A Bombproof Single Point Sling Mount for your AR

Troy Single Point Sling Mount

February 19, 2017 by Brian (Rev) Norris 8 Comments

Today, I’d like to bring an AR single point sling mount to your attention for consideration. “All-business” & “bomb-proof” are adjectives that come to mind after over two months of testing  this mount from Troy Industries.

I happen to lean toward two-point slings for my rifles but have often used a single-point sling for my 870.  So I decided to test a single-point system on my AR for a while; I sent off for a Troy Industries PGRSA (Pro Grade Rifle Sling Adapter) and it arrived at my doorstep with lightning speed.

Upon initial inspection, I found the mount to be constructed of hardened aircraft aluminum that had been finished nicely. The package contained a push button Q.D. (Quick Detach) swivel made out of stainless steel.

PGRSA Mount with Q.D. Removed

Installation was a breeze. I simply removed the butt off of my standard six-position stock and slid the perfectly fitted PGRSA over the post and down to the rear of the receiver. Once in place, I tightened the screw with the provided tool, attached my sling to the Q.D. swivel, and was immediately ready to rock and roll.

In the field, the mount proved consistently reliable. The Q.D. function was pleasantly tactile and easy to incorporate into my existing routine. What some would consider abuse didn’t phase this mount in the least; it’s the kind of equipment to which you could trust your life. I was tempted to attach my climbing harness to it and suspend myself from the mount for a video review, but I opted for straight facts this time around. Nonetheless, I have no doubt that it would handle my weight with ease.

The PGRSA has several advantages that I’d like to highlight. First, it’s constructed with the quality and attention to detail that I’ve come to expect from Troy Industries. Second, it provides a positive Q.D. attachment point on both sides of your AR, strategically positioned without any permanent modifications or need for gunsmithing. Third, the sling adapter actually enhances your stock’s reliability by eliminating the chance that your castle nut could rotate out. I know we’re all worried about that happening right? But seriously, anything that strengthens an already strong platform is just gravy on top of your mashed potatoes.

If a bombproof AR build is one of your life goals, Troy’s PGRSA is a step in the right direction.

Is it designed strictly for right hand mounting? That’s what it looks like it in the image.
