School shootings are every parent’s nightmare scenario. Imagining saying goodbye to your child in the morning and never seeing them again is horrific.
The recent massacre in Uvalde, Texas brought that to the forefront of the nation’s mind. Americans reacted; our politicians and media sounded off on how to make sure it never happened again.
This included Uvalde native, actor Matthew McConaughey. He gave a speech at the White House calling for age restrictions, red flag laws on weapons, and encouraging more responsible gun ownership.
The issue has divided many; it’s clear from our inner cities to our massacres, this country has a problem.
Though a recent case out of Alabama shows just how effective a good guy with a gun can be.
What Happened in Alabama?
On Thursday, an armed individual entered the grounds of Walnut Park Elementary in Gadsden, Alabama. He approached the school, then tried to push open the doors and enter with his weapon.
The doors were locked and the man became frustrated, trying several other doors, which were also locked.
An individual was watching this armed man try to get into the school and became alarmed. He put through a call to police. Then, the principal of Walnut Park locked down the school and asked the resource officer to come assist.
The resource officer asked for backup, which soon showed up. Cops surrounded the school and the armed man tried to break into their cars and engage officers.
At this point, the resource officer responded, shooting the intruder dead on the school grounds before he could smash a window or enter the school in any other method.
The children reportedly didn’t even know a man was trying to enter their school. Locked doors and good guys with guns made sure they got home to their parents perfectly safe and sound.

Guns Saved Lives
As in the 500,000 other defensive gun uses each year in our country, good guys with guns saved lives. In Uvalde, cops waited around for someone to do something, allowing killer Salvador Ramos to go on his rampage.
The doors were also not locked. People like Senator Ted Cruz were mocked for pointing out the importance of basic securing of a school to prevent such carnage.
Gadsden shows this is not something to laugh or joke about. You could have all the gun restrictions in the world, but a bad guy approaching a school with a gun is only going to stop if more people with guns stop him and if he can’t get into the school.
It’s absolutely that simple.
This is how we handle possible school shooters in Alabama.

Welcome to Alabama
Psychopaths and wannabe killers all see what happened in Gadsden and they will be staying far away.
If you want to protect schools and kids, you need to send a clear message you’re deadly serious about using force to stop armed intruders.
