When compared with the rest of the world, The United States is often criticized for the bold defence of its second amendment and the right to bear arms. “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”
Often taken out of context, America’s gun laws can be criticized for being way too liberal when it comes to the issuing of firearms. What people forget is that the whole point of gun freedom in the USA is that citizens should have the means to defend themselves from and resist tyranny. It is the ultimate form of accountability to the ruling authority.

Although other countries rank higher than the USA on the global freedom index, the USA has something no other population on Earth can claim to possess. The ability of the individual to forcefully resist authority from their own government. True freedom.
This is a strange concept for those in Europe and Asia who have come to almost worship the state allowing a level of control over every aspect of human life that would seem tyrannical to freedom-loving Americans. In most European countries, even those with high crime rates, owning a firearm for self-protection is not prohibited
In Singapore, citizens are subjected to the world’s strictest gun laws. Perhaps they have forgotten the horrors of subjugation former generations had to endure under a rampant Japan in world war 2. Altho tyranny was not imposed on them by their own government, nobody can predict the future.
In the tiny nation “citizens are not allowed access to any firearms. If a person is caught with a gun, the punishment is “caning” (physical punishment, usually with a cane). If someone tries to use a weapon, the punishment is death. If someone is caught with more than one weapon, it is assumed they are trafficking arms and can be punished by death or life in prison.” VOA News Reported.
Like the United States, one-quarter of swiss households own a firearm. “The United States has roughly one gun per person, whereas Switzerland has one for every four people. Most Swiss guns were issued to male citizens by the government as part of their compulsory military service.”
There are only three countries in the world where citizens have the constitutional right to bear arms. Famously, the USA, Mexico, and Guatemala. Formerly, six nations had this right, however decided to repeal those laws. It is unlikely that this law would ever be repealed in the United States.
America’s gun freedom may seem outdated as it originally came to be during the revolutionary war against Great Britain. The founding fathers wished to see an American people who were equipped to stand up to those who would impose upon them control. This is not an outdated Ideology. In Fact, in our day and age, the freedom to protect oneself against violence or tyranny is imperative as no one knows what the future holds. Nothing is certain.
