Wolf Performance Ammunition will soon be selling Taiwanese T91 uppers. The T91 uses a short-stroke, semi-automatic piston. To comply with US firearms law, the T91 upper will be made from imported Taiwanese components and assembled in Tennessee. The 16 inch T91 barrel is hammer-forged with a 1:7 twist Milspec chrome lined.

Why should an upper (a non firearm) need to be assembled in the USA ( Tennessee) in order to comply with ATF regs???
The ATF has broad authority to regulate the importation of parts. The use the “sporting clause” to restrict military style weapons parts has affected the importation of parts kits as well.
Remember when you were a kid and you always had a friend that would make up stupid rules in a game as you played? That kid grew up and joined the ATF
