What’s your favorite pocket pistol?

The Springfield XD-S line has quickly risen in my list of preferred concealed carry pistols due to their small frame, with surprisingly manageable recoil. I’ve reviewed both the 3.3″ barrel XD-S pistols in 9mm and .45 cal. However, in the past year, Springfield has released new options for their single stack pocket pistols, the XD-S 4.0. The 4.0 refers to the four inch barrel—a response to requests for the same slim grip with more of a range-friendly barrel. I’ve not yet fired the .45 cal XD-S 4.0, but I have put a few rounds through the 9mm model. Here’s a vid, if you were interested in seeing how it shoots.

My favorite is the xds .45 in 3.3. Great shooting gun. I can’t wait to see you’re impression of the 4.0

Would love to add one of those to my collection. That said, for a pocket-gun which for me generally translates into a BUG, I almost always use my Kel-Tec P11–it’s a great gun for what it’s intended for and it arguably set the precedent in the “pocket-gun” arena particularly relative to hi-cap sub-compacts (way before Ruger and others threw their hat in the ring). Other times I will use a Beretta 21A loaded with either Stingers or HV Aguila .40gr. Absolute plethora of choices out there to be sure.

Happy Memorial Day and Thanks to our Vets both past and present!

    –God Bless
