Photo Friday: Training with the Beretta M9

Photo Friday: Training with the Beretta M9 - TheArmsGuide.com

I had the good fortune to be invited to do a little firearms training with Nelson Tactical, with pistol and rifle. For the handgun drills, I ran my trusty Beretta M9 (I know, I know, Glock enthusiasts are retching right now, but hey, it works for me). It rained on us a bit, but that wasn’t about to deter us from getting in some trigger time. To see more on the training exercises and general range fun, check out this video.

Nothing wrong with the M9, it’s a classic and a great combat handgun.  I love my Glock and my M&P VTAC 9, but my sentimental fav is still the M9.  I broke my teeth on it, trained with it, carried it for 11 years and trusted my life with it.  I can field strip it and reassemble with my eyes closed.  It’s still my go-to handgun.

I thought you were into the CZ, I guess with all the guns you have it’s hard to decide. 😉

I actually love the Beretta M9’s. I had one some years back and I had to get rid of it. It was a very sweet shooter. If I would have found one when I was duty pistol shopping last year I would have another one. I regret getting rid of my first one. Even though I own a Glock, I only got it to have a reliable, lightweight, accurate duty pistol with super reliable magazines. I plan to get another one though, as the Mil-surp magazines are super duper cheap. I wish I would have moved from revolvers sooner, my pistol “collection” would include a lot more if I did.

Considering the amount of range time you do and the numerous handguns you have reviewed, the fact that your go-to gun is an M9 says heaps to me about the quality of Beretta’s 92 series.  Nice tactical shooting style BTW.
