I recently had the opportunity to learn more about combat shotgunning from my friends at In Extremis Consulting GroupĀ (more on that soon). In some of the training, I ran one of my favorite shotguns, the Remington 870 Tactical. I thought it was fitting, seeing that we had planned to do a little door breaching. Funny thing is, I didn’t end up breaching our staged door with the Remington 870, but with the Mossberg 500 that Austin (the firearms instructor from this video) brought. Turns out my little t-rex arms are too short for the standard stock on the Remington, which makes some things, like door breaching, a little trickier. Luckily, there are other shotgun stock options that will let me run my favorite 12 gauge with fewer problems.

JoeFabeetz Just fine :] I didn’t go home with bruises, or even a sore shoulder. ;D
peter3101 hahahaha I think she’s more concerned about having to share a bathroom… :p
EricKmiecik Lol I dunno about that, but thank you. :]
Pro2AGuy The more I shoot shotgun, the more I wonder why I don’t shoot it more lol Fun stuff, for sure.
gpthomas10 Haha I work with what I have, ya know ;]
ThorDeSchane That’s not too bad at all. š
FateofDestineeĀ EricKmiecik You’re welcome Destinee :]
1tyme The Remmy featured above is an 870 Express Tactical :]
Z0mb3hHunt3r Much obliged ;D The Remmy I used in the vid is actually my dad’s, but I’ve brought it to every shotgun training I’ve taken, and I like how it operates. The only issue I have is my stubby t-rex arms… Eventually, I’ll get my own 870 Tactical with a telescoping buttstock or youth stock so that it fits me better.
FateofDestineeĀ Z0mb3hHunt3rĀ You and your T-rex arms handle that scattergun better than most of my male friends do. I am a big fan of the Remington 870. It really feels like I am handling a robust hunk of blued steel and wood that I could take on a Tank with. I love how positive and slick the action is on the 870 shotguns. The Mossberg 500s feel like I could bend them in half while I am shooting. Me being 6″3 your problem is pretty extravagant, the only firearm I have a problem shouldering is my friend’s WASR-10, as the stock is so tiny and thin it feels like I am shouldering a Mac-10 with the stock retracted. I am used to the wide U of the Under-folders and the wide buttpad on Crutch folders. I have never taken a Shotgun Class though, is it really fun?
