Yep, I’m still on a Cowboy Action Shooting kick. Pictured above is one of the new Ruger Vaqueros (chambered in .45 Long Colt) I borrowed for my first SASS match in a lovely leather holster (also borrowed). There was a great variety of gear sported at that event, but I found my eye gravitating to some particularly pretty leather work that is often rejected in the self defense community in favor of more concealable utilitarian holsters. Perhaps it’s the girl in me, but I must admit that I enjoyed the spectacle of good looking guns and equally nice looking gear (not to mention the great costumes) at my first cowboy action match nearly as much as the shooting.
Gosh I love single action pistols. Ever since I was a kid I’ve always wanted a Ruger single action but I still don’t have one. Time to fix that, I think.
I have that latent desire too, and Destinee has awakened it with these too videos xD.
I have a little Ruger Bearcat though, that’s a reduced size copy of the 1873 chambered in 22lr, and last weekend i went in the woods to make it sing a little 8)
The single action and the gear are beautiful. The cowgirl persona fits perfectly on you. I can imagine you participating on a duel.
Looks good Destinee. It’s you!
Hey Destinee,
My Dad had an H.H. Heiser flower pattern and hacked holster that was absolutely beautiful although when I would oil it i was young and preferred the more utilitarian look that you have mentioned!
Great look for you and happy to watch your stuff on the web…
Sincerely,
Mike…ConquestN98858
Oops… That is LACED not hacked ‘;-)
DES likes dressing up….who knew.
Lots a whole lot of fun, with great guns and even greater people.
Love the grips on those beauties. You should try out the polished stainless Ruger Bisley Vaqueros with the faux ivory grips. They look sharp and have a great feel with the extended grips. Like you, I like the looks of a nice western holster rig too!

I like good ol’ handmade leather gear too. When i was young my farher worked on that kinda stuff, not making holsters but horses gear. Unfortunately he doesn’t have the tools anymore, otherwise i could have tried to make something myself.
Were there any Uberti or Pietta guns at the event?
I have a 2005-ish(?) Ruger Vaquero, not the “new” model in .45 LC. First caliber I started reloading for recently and soon… I will make a… kydex holster for it O.o
