The SIG SAUER P226 Platinum Elite 9mm is a lovely pistol and it shoots like a champ. It’s one of my favorite full size 9mms. This Platinum Elite model will set you bet a few extra pennies, but the additional coin buys some good features. One that I most appreciate is the Short Resetting Trigger (SRT). It makes every pull after the first feather light. What’s your experience with these European gems?

I carried a P226 on 2 tours of Afghan (well it was strictly an L106A1, but that’s just the British Designation for a P226) with the British Army. It wasn’t an elite model, it was pretty much standard. I can’t compare it with much as it is the only handgun I’ve ever fired, but it was brilliant. It is accurate, quick to use, incredibly reliable and safe to use as well. I never experienced any stoppages whilst using it (though I know people who did) and it never let me down when I needed it.

boris400 Sounds like you had a great experience. The P226 in the photo is my dad’s, but since he bought his, I’ve been drooling over the P226 Enhanced Elite for myself lol

Mine is just a boring old P226  9mm elite dark TB.  It’s an awesome pistol, but it doesn’t glow in the dark like that one.

CK5150 Lol I don’t think there’s anything boring about a P226 Elite Dark ;] I’d be happy to own one (the Platinum Elite in the photo is my father’s, so, of course, I need my own now lol )

FateofDestinee CK5150 -You can’t go wrong with a P226 or P229.  And I think the Sig 1911’s are very underrated.

There’s no doubt Sig make some nice gear, both handguns and long arms.  I’ve shot the P226 and the Sig 556 (semi auto rifle), both excellent firearms.  My favourite is however the P232.  A nice little performer for a .380, and one of the best looking handguns ever make, IMO.

AussieWombat1 I just recently got to put a few rounds through one of SIG’s 1911s. I was quite pleased. Now, I’ll have to pick one up for myself! lol

You can’t beat a nice 1911.  My Kimber CDP II has apparently arrived in Australia and is somewhere between the importers and my local dealer.  Now all I have to do is wait the statutory 28 day waiting period, and find some factory .45 ammo until I get the .45 upgrade for my re-loading press.
