Leftist Journalist Melts Down Over Guns

Belén Fernández is a far-left journalist who writes for the communist magazine and website, Jacobin, and the terrorist-supporting news outlet, Al Jazeera.
Like many of her comrades in the liberal media, Fernández hates gun rights. This actually makes sense, since she’s allied with an ideology that stripped citizens of gun rights in the last century and murdered millions of them.
Though in order to grasp just how delusional Fernández and her fellow fake news fanatics are, it’s worth looking at her most recent piece of crap. She wrote this for Al Jazeera about gun violence and how much she hates America’s gun culture.

Fernández Flips Out At US Gun Rights

In an opinion column for Al Jazeera, Fernández (who is American) talked about how much she hates US gun rights. Cuba is a communist dictatorship that makes its people live on insufficient food and low wages and arrests and tortures people for disagreeing with the government.
Fernández, who reports frequently on Cuba, begins her anti-gun piece by talking about a Cuban man she interviewed. He was arrested trying to illegally immigrate to the US and got a relaxing time on a Cuban work farm growing coffee as punishment.
She contrasts that with the United States, which she says is a disgusting symbol of “global capitalism” and has “institutionalized” torture in Cuba at Guantanamo Bay. It’s clear that Fernández believes the US government is much worse than the Cuban government.
Fernández then praises Cuba’s “free healthcare,” which is very low quality; it has an extremely low level of gun violence, according to her.
This sets the stage for her diatribe against the US and its mass shootings and gun violence.

Fernández’s Silly Article

The article then goes on to talk about mass shootings that have taken place across the US in the past year, including the attempted mass shooting in Brooklyn on April 12.

Fernández forgets to mention that the suspect in the Brooklyn subway attack was a far-left black racist. He had been incited to violence by the lies and hate of the liberal media, including the disgusting lie that police are white supremacists who go around trying to kill unarmed black people.

She mentions the 45,222 deaths from guns in 2020, of which 54% were suicides, as proof that gun rights kill people. She said America’s “casual attitude” about guns is leading to an epidemic of murder.

Why She’s Wrong

The reason Fernandez is wrong is really quite simple: the US is free, Cuba’s not. That may sound like no big deal, but try taking away all your freedom and see how that goes.

Furthermore, the US invents new technologies, leads the world in our economy, and has a way of life that’s far better than the half-starved, internet-lacking nation of Cuba.

Try criticizing the president of the US here at home and then go down to Cuba and criticize their president. See what happens.

As for gun violence: this is caused by criminals, not guns.
