This has been a dangerous weekend in Washington, DC. A sniper on the loose targeted four people around the capital.
DC was locked down for part of Friday as authorities hunted for a rogue sniper who was shooting various people, including an innocent 12-year-old girl.
Now, more answers are emerging about what happened and why in this horrific incident.
The gunman was identified as a suspected 23-year-old Fairfax, Virginia individual named Raymond Spencer. The police tweeted out his photo to the public asking for help.
Spencer was found dead Friday after targeting at least four people and the city being on lockdown. Luckily, he was not a very good shot. He was an amateur sniper at best, despite having sniper weaponry and sights.
He is accused of shooting a young girl, a retired cop in his 50s, and two women who were only grazed. The young girl got shot in the arm and is expected to make a full recovery; the retired police officer was also not seriously wounded.
DC police told people to stay inside as they hunted for the gunman, who was later found dead in his apartment next to a tripod. He had been streaming the shootings on 4Chan, a popular message board among disturbed online youth and extremists.
His shootings appeared to be completely random of people walking by the window.

Police Follow Trail on Social Media
According to authorities, Spencer had a number of online postings that caused concern.
The shooting started on Friday afternoon near Connecticut Ave and Van Ness Street in DC near a private prep school. The rich area of DC has a lot of embassies and official buildings.
As the shots cracked out, parents ducked for cover and tried to protect their kids. The shots came right as a nearby school called Edmund Burke was ending for the day.
Cops then told everyone to stay indoors as they began a massive manhunt. Police say that Spencer killed himself as cops approached the fifth-floor apartment he was set up in.
DC Mayor Muriel Bowser said that this is an example of the “epidemic of gun violence.”

Why Did He Do It?
Police say an exact motive is still being sought, but they believe he wanted to kill as many people as he could. The speedy police response with alert tactical teams and rapid response definitely saved lives here.
While the left will point to the danger of gun ownership here, this is actually nothing to do with guns. This story shows the crumbling state of American society and mental health.
This is clear when you have a young man who should be serving his country in uniform, working hard, or starting a family, and instead, he’s perching in an apartment, shooting at pre-teen girls.
This country is in very deep trouble, and it’s not because of a gun crisis.
