Joe Biden delivered the State of the Union address on Tuesday evening; it was full of pie-in-the-sky promises and talk about supporting Ukraine.
Underneath all the rhetoric, there was a consistent theme: it’s time for the division he and the left caused to end; it’s time for people to vote for Democrats in the upcoming midterms.
Regardless of whether you plan to do that or not, please keep in mind various lies about guns that Biden sprinkled into the SOTU address. These matter, because it’s an important speech watched by millions and it amplifies messages around the world.
Here’s where Biden got it wrong…
Biden’s Gun Lies
One of the biggest lies Biden dropped into his SOTU speech was the claim gun makers are the only companies in the United States who are immune from lawsuits.
This is just untrue. It’s correct that gun manufacturers are shielded from actions done with their products by criminals, but they can still be sued.
For example, if a gun backfires dangerously, breaks, or has various dangerous and costly defects, the manufacturer can be sued. Remington Arms was just recently sued, so the idea gunmakers are immune to lawsuits is just false.
If Biden is saying they should be able to be sued for actions taken with guns, as Mexico is now claiming, then what about kitchen knives? What about suing automakers whose vehicles are used by terrorists or criminals to run people over or commit drive-by shootings?
How far should we go with this?
Biden is lying re ghost guns: ghost guns MUST be serialized for sale. Already the law. #SOTU

Getting it Wrong on Ghost Guns
Biden also got it wrong on ghost guns, making the false claim that ghost guns can be bought and sold without a serial number. He demanded this change be for everyone’s security and knowing who has weapons.
The thing is ghost guns are already required to have a serial number in order to be sold; it’s already the law. Demanding a bigger crackdown is redundant since these restrictions are already on the books.
This is something that gun-rights activist Dana Loesch pointed out.
Talking about banning guns like the AR-15, Biden condescendingly asks, "You think the deer are wearing kevlar vests?"

‘Ban Assault Weapons’
Biden also did the old song and dance about banning so-called “assault weapons,” including his tired old joke about how deer aren’t wearing bulletproof vests. His point is you don’t need AR-15s and similar rifles to go hunting.
This is remarkable hypocrisy, coming right as the US is encouraging Ukrainians to arm themselves in defense of their country; even liberal media outlets are pointing out how crucial bearing arms can be to the survival of a country.
However, Biden wants to tell us that our Founding Fathers just wanted us to do what the government tells us and avoid any weapons more than a powderhorn musket? Ridiculous!
