Here in America, we hear no end of how dangerous the Second Amendment is and how it must be stopped for our own safety. Yet now, we are seeing a situation unfold before our own eyes that completely proves the necessity of an armed citizenry.
That situation is the defense of Ukraine against a Russian invasion. The vicious assault on Ukraine came from all directions under the orders of Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Russia’s Invasion and Ukraine’s Response
The world watched in horror as Putin’s tanks and troops destroyed infrastructure and killed soldiers, but the Ukrainian army has put up fierce resistance and reportedly held many key sites.
Part of the formula for increased defense in Ukraine has been arming citizens, something our own liberal media now apparently respects and understands the need for.
Citizens were handed automatic weapons in many parts of Ukraine, including the capital of Kiev. Ukrainians are also coming back from Poland where they’ve been working to fight to defend their country.
All of this takes weapons. Even Ukrainian politicians, their President Zelensky, and Mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko are all taking up arms.
As Zelensky said when the US offered him a ride out to escape the war, he doesn’t need a “ride,” he needs “ammo.”

Arming Up
Handing out Kalashnikovs has proven a very effective antidote to an invasion.
When Russian troops don’t know which civilian around any corner has a lethal weapon, it significantly slows down the invasion. If Russia goes all out with heavy bombing of civilian areas it will be impossible for them to hold control over the country after the war.
This is why automatic weapons are not just for decoration. They’re to fight tyranny. The estimated 20,000 which have already been given out in Ukraine are aiding in street battles and keeping civilians feeling less panicked as they shelter in place.
While tens of thousands of Ukrainian refugees have streamed over to escape into Poland, many do not have that option; roads are dangerous and filled with Russians.
That leaves firepower and the right to arm yourselves.
As the whole world can now see, the right to bear arms is a crucial and fundamental right, not something to be picked apart in progressive parliaments and criticized on liberal TV shows.

The Bottom Line
Ukraine’s brave defense will go down in the history books. Handing out rifles to civilians is a key part of it. Even our own liberal media seems to now appreciate this fact, as I mentioned.
It’s time for American patriots to emphasize this important factor in the Ukraine war. Arming yourself for self-defense is sometimes absolutely necessary, even if you wish it wasn’t.
When it comes down to life and death, already having weaponry gives you a significant edge over the enemy and an added element of self-defense that many others don’t have.
