Gun control from the left is an ongoing and constant issue, but what makes it worse is when both sides get in on it.
As we’ve seen with Republicans in Name Only (RINOs), like Congressman Dan Crenshaw, there are plenty of so-called conservatives who are more than willing to climb on board with red flag laws, gun buybacks, and gun confiscations.
The latest example comes with the latest version of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). On the surface, it seems entirely justified and positive; it’s supposed to crack down on domestic abusers.
However, start reading the fine print and you’ll be disturbed to see red flag gun laws packed tightly into every corner.
The VAWA Trojan Horse
VAWA has bipartisan support from many members of the GOP and Democrats.
It is mainly aimed at getting tough on those who beat women and treat their wives and girlfriends terribly. That does indeed seem like an issue that both sides can agree on: it’s wrong!
Yet, beneath the surface of this outwardly moral-seeming bill is a swamp of gun control legal language. Last year’s VAWA had various gun control provisions in it, but this year’s has been stripped of different red flag laws. However, it’s still full of problems.
One of those problems is the so-called boyfriend loophole. This is also known as the Lautenberg Amendment. It bans anyone convicted of a misdemeanor from possessing a firearm.
Again? Every time they bring VAWA up, they try to sneak gun control into it.

There Are Even More Problems With VAWA 2022
More problems remain with this year’s VAWA, including expanded power for the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
This bill gives them the power to investigate anyone who is turned down in an NCIS background check. Even though 90% of NCIS rejections are incorrect, the ATF now has the power to peer into every corner of your life and start making it harder for you to exercise your 2A rights.
Putting in an NICS denial law that lets the ATF snoop on you is all about stopping your right to purchase firearms; the boyfriend loophole is all about finding new ways to crack down on legal gun owners.
Senators and representatives need to come together on this and get rid of the anti-gun laws packed into this disastrous bill. There is no reason the VAWA can’t be focused on preventing violence against women, instead of preventing citizens from owning weapons.
@BillHagertyTN Anti-gun politicians from both sides of the aisle have been pushing an anti-gun version of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), a bill designed to appear nice on the outside, but with infringements. Every pro-gun Senator can and should fight this gun control.

The Bottom Line
Bipartisan RINOs and those who already want political credit from the left for passing gun control may be tempted to pass this law; however, they need to know patriots are watching and not amused by this kind of game playing.
Preventing violence against women is an admirable goal, but preventing Americans from owning guns is never OK.
