The left is soft on crime, and that’s not some political talking point. It’s a cold, hard reality that’s getting a lot of good people killed across our country.
The latest tragic example comes out of the crime-ridden blue city of Baltimore. This once great city is run by Democrat Mayor Brandon Scott, who made fighting COVID and gun violence key planks of his governance.
We all know fighting COVID from the left has mainly been shutting down businesses and firing people for not getting vaccines. Likewise, we also know their version of fighting gun violence is cracking down on legal gun owners.
Indeed, Baltimore’s approach to crime has been a complete disaster. Illegal guns are all over the streets and a defund the police mentality is getting Good Samaritans killed on a daily basis. The latest is a kind man called DaShawn McGrier.
What Happened?
McGrier was a kind man who gained employment from a program called Safe Streets. The purpose of Safe Streets was to reduce violence in the inner city of Baltimore and provide resources and hope for those tied up in drugs and crime.
Social workers like McGrier were coached by community organizers to respond to violence with compassion, understanding, and dialog. McGrier is now in a morgue.
After only a month on board at Safe Streets, McGrier tried to stop a violent fight occurring in East Monument Street in the Milton Montford area of Baltimore. Then, he and two others were gunned down and brutally killed.
His organization said McGrier was a dedicated and heartfelt man who just wanted to make his community better and stop the kind of violence that’s tearing our country apart.
He was just trying to make a change for the better, but being an unarmed negotiator in the middle of gunfights is a very dangerous and deadly proposition.

When Will the Left Stop Deluding Itself?
McGrier can’t be blamed for trying to stop violence and do good in his community. He is a hero who will be dearly remembered by everyone who knew him for the good he did and wanted to do. He is not to blame!
The activist judges who let criminals out on bail and want to defund police are the ones to blame, along with vicious criminals they enable every day in various cities across our country. There’s just no excuse for a soft-on-crime attitude.
Let me be clear: soft-on-crime policies are murder. Anyone who wants to disarm law-abiding Americans, cut our police funding, and let criminals out of jail is responsible for any murders and crimes that released individuals go on to do.
They are also responsible for every life lost that could have been saved if that person had a firearm. The same goes for every cop ambushed and killed, every crime which could have been stopped if a police department had been sufficiently funded.
McGrier is the third social worker from Safe Streets to get killed in the past year in Baltimore. It’s outrageous that these kinds of incidents keep happening in blue cities from the West Coast to the East Coast.
Yet, all we hear are more excuses. There are no excuses.

Mayor Scott Says ‘Horrific’ Violence Must Stop
Responding to the violence, Baltimore’s Mayor Scott said this “horrific” violence has to stop. He’s absolutely right. The left needs to grow up and get serious about stopping crime and gun violence.
