Boulder is a city of 106,000 located in southern Colorado.
It’s a nice place; although tragedy struck in March of this year when a crazed young man killed ten people in a local supermarket with a Ruger AR-556 semi-automatic pistol.
The gun control crowd was already hard at work in the purple state of Colorado, working for years on getting guns away from people.
After the shooting, the city got even more committed to a number of restrictions on gun ownership at the local level.
They lost, then they appealed. Now, big news is breaking…
City of Boulder Drops Its Appeal
Boulder’s efforts at cracking down on gun ownership were struck down in state court, but they didn’t like this.
The city appealed the ruling in Chambers v. Boulder and kept pursuing tighter restrictions on 2A within city limits.
One of those who stepped up to oppose these infringements was the Center to Keep and Bear Arms’ (CKBA).
Now, the city’s case has been thrown out of court for a very simple reason: it is against state law.
Boulder’s 2018 laws cracking down on guns were already prohibiting many weapons and magazine categories in a way that was frankly unconstitutional.
The throwing out of their appeal basically reaffirms the Constitution is real and a bunch of self-righteous liberal busybodies can’t tear it up because they find guns scary.
3 years ago I stood in front of the Boulder City Council & told them if they pushed gun control @MSLF would sue. They did & we sued.
Now Boulder pushes for more.
If Boulder or Colorado moves forward, #CKBA stands ready to defend Coloradans natural rightshttps://t.co/QMGRewRjA1

This is a Win
It’s important for 2A proponents to celebrate their victories and not just focus on setbacks. So let’s be clear: this is a big win.
There are plenty of obstacles left in cities like Boulder, but this striking down of the city’s appeal shows the Constitution still applies, even in areas where there are a lot of liberals who don’t like guns.
Cities like Boulder are full of people who react on an emotional level to guns, instead of looking at the situation logically.
If you start cracking down on gun rights among law-abiding Americans, psychopaths and killers will still find a way to get ahold of a firearm.
You will simply make it harder for regular and non-violent folks to get their hands on a gun.
Boulder has backed down! This cements the win for all Boulder residents, vindicating their constitutionally protected rights!
Cities in Colorado should think twice before infringing on Coloradans' Second Amendment protected rights.#CKBA #2ALaw #GunRights #GunLaw #CO #Boulder https://t.co/CQTUBArMdM

The Bottom Line
The CKBA scored a win with the city of Boulder abandoning its appeal, but so did the American people and Boulder residents.
What happened in March is a horrible tragedy, but the fight for gun control doesn’t ultimately make sense.
The shooter in the supermarket has been found not mentally fit to stand trial, so perhaps we should start there: the weakness of our justice system which keeps giving a pass to violent murderers and criminals.
Tougher on crime, more freedom on guns. That is the recipe for a safer America.
