As the blue murder wave keeps crashing across America, Democrat-run cities are responding in the only way they know how. They are responding by doubling down on the failed policies which helped turn them into the hellholes of violence and gang chaos they are today.
From Philadelphia to Los Angeles, we see cities on the brink of collapse, like a scene out of a horror movie. There’s no better example than Chicago, which recently crossed 800 murders for the year.
Now, the Windy City has a strategy for responding to the violence, and it’s even stupider than anyone would imagine.
Chicago’s New (Old) Idea for Fighting Gun Crime
Chicago can’t keep pretending legally owned guns are the main problem.
While there is a big issue with straw purchasers bringing in guns from out of state and passing them along to dangerous gangs, the city’s main problem is black market weapons. These weapons are all over the streets and violent criminals are running rampant through the city.
That’s why Democrat Mayor Lori Lightfoot has come up with an old, failed idea to fight gun violence in Chicago: a new gun violence program that sounds like something made by social justice warriors or left-wing college grads.
Seriously, it’s that bad. Lightfoot’s new spending allocates over $410 million to a safe city program that pushes more counseling on the streets, mentorship, nicer parks, better services for the homeless, and better jobs for teenagers.
There are better programs to help victims of crime, which is good, but the basic idea of this stuff sounds like it was thought up by Congresswoman Ilhan Omar or someone.
This is trash that just coddles criminals. It boils down to a victim saying: please be nice and don’t hurt me. It’s garbage.
The U.S. murder rate has risen 30% according to FBI data – the largest annual increase on record, with Chicago topping the list. At least 12 major cities, including New York, have already set historical murder records in 2021.

Violence Reduction or Coddling Criminals?
There’s a thin line between violence reduction and coddling criminals.
When you read Democrat legislation, you need to read very carefully; in almost every case, these kinds of budgets are just ways to fork over easy money to donors and wasteful social programs that don’t actually put a dent in crime.
Yes, it would be nice if young people had high-paying jobs and great mentors that prevented them from joining gangs. However, the reality is that even pumping money into poor areas to give good counseling isn’t going to stop the allure of high-paying drug dealer jobs for many young people.
If you don’t face reality, you’re never going to have an impact on reality. Then again, if your goal is just to fork taxpayer money to useless programs, then it actually makes sense what Lightfoot and company are doing: pay off bloated social services, get voting blocks on board next election.
It’s dirty, dirty politics.
Those are rookie numbers. Our murder rate in Chicago is at 805 and counting. So sad 😔
