The small community of Spanaway is located just south of Spokane, Washington. The crime rate in Spanaway is fairly low, but it’s higher than in Washington as a whole. You have a 1 in 275 chance of being a victim of violent crime in the small city.
The fact is that property crime in Spanaway is actually slightly lower, but it doesn’t mean there aren’t still problems. A recent home robbery attempt ended very badly for one man.
What Happened?
Two individuals tried to break into a man’s home in Spanaway early on Thursday morning around 4 a.m. They approached the residence from the backyard and tried to kick down his backdoor.
The homeowner, Jerahme Smith, heard the commotion and grabbed his weapon. He then shot at the intruders, killing one. The other individual fled and got away.
Police responded to the gunshots and found one 25-year-old male dead on the ground on the homeowner’s property.
The Pierce County Sheriffs Office said no arrests have been made following the shooting. https://t.co/c0OAiX5wS5

Smith Speaks Out
Smith is a renter who’s lived in the house with his wife and kids for the past few years. He was there in the house with his sister at the time when they heard people breaking in. Smith became agitated when he heard the people breaking in.
Then, he had to calm himself down and slow down, so he could decide what to do. Smith is defending what he did, saying it’s his “right” and he can “protect” himself and his property as an American.
People who live around the area said crime is getting worse in their neighborhood of Spanaway; people are investing in security cameras to protect their homes. People say they are worried because of what happened and it stresses them out.

The Reality vs. the Idea
As Smith said, the reality of someone breaking into your home and having to shoot them is a lot different than just “talking about” it. When the reality hits, it’s very traumatic and can be disturbing. Smith, for his part, isn’t rethinking what he did, saying it was his right and was a natural action of self-defense.
Smith also said he “doesn’t care” what they wanted from his house. They threatened his family and one of the intruders paid the price. There is a crime and murder wave sweeping across America, especially in blue states like Washington, California, New York, and Minnesota.
Americans are being told by Democrats they shouldn’t own or use weapons, while Democrats also let dangerous criminals out on the streets. Remember when VP Kamala Harris tweeted out a bail link for BLM rioters who were in jail to get bailed out?
These are the kind of people we now have running our country. Communities as small as Spanaway are experiencing crime growth, as police departments are disempowered.
We can’t let them take our gun rights away. When that happens, the last barrier to tyranny and fascism is gone and we’re the victims of the mob.
