Democrats love to bury anti-gun legislation deep into other bills and then sneak it past. Next thing you know, armed people are coming to your door, demanding your guns.
The latest alarming development comes as the National Defense Authorization Act had red flag laws for confiscating guns from military members hidden away inside it.
Gun rights groups, like the Gun Owners of America, worked hard to get this legislation exposed and stopped. Thankfully, there are many great members of Congress like Lauren Boebert and Chip Roy who are also huge Second Amendment supporters.
Bill Sneaks Through the House
Unfortunately, the Fiscal Year 2022 NDAA still passed the House and only 75 GOP members ultimately stood up to prevent it. The huge bill was clearly designed to bury the red flag gun confiscation law inside it so nobody would notice.
Bringing attention to the bill caused a firestorm and GOP members had to explain why they allowed a bill with gun confiscations in it to go through. Some, such as Dan Crenshaw of Texas, said they voted for the bill because they believed the gun confiscation order would be taken out later.
That appears to be bogus, since it’s well known the left likes to put sneaky anti-2A stuff like this in bigger bills. If people like Crenshaw were really concerned and believed in what they stand for, they would have voted against the bill, reworked it to remove gun confiscation language, and then passed it as a clean bill.
These proposed Military Court Gun Confiscation Orders could be “issued on an ex parte basis” & therefore would “restrain a person from possessing, receiving, or otherwise accessing a firearm” without constitutional Due Process (SEC. 529’s proposed §1567b(j)(1)(A)). pic.twitter.com/l8JJbOQivI

Some Rare Good News
Despite passing the House, grassroots activism succeeded in getting the GOP to take action. Now, 163 Republicans have put out an official announcement that they are against the gun confiscation order in the bill.
This commitment from the GOP to scrap gun confiscation language in the bill is very good news. As conference discussions come up on this, there will now be strong backing to have the voices of gun owners heard loud and clear.
There’s no more wiggle room for the left to hide or pretend the GOP was fine with the bill as a whole. Now they’ve been forced to stare it in the face, even RINOs have to admit the 2022 NDAA has dangerous anti-gun language in it that must be removed. Hopefully, this removal can happen during negotiations.
Hi America – ask your Republican Representative why they are voting for an #NDAA that creates anti-gun Red Flag laws against our military men and women – see for yourself. #NoMilitaryRedFlagLaws (oh, and #DontDraftOurDaughters either). CC: @GunOwners @RepThomasMassie pic.twitter.com/PTVkeO2zhW

Now that it’s seen the bright light of day, this gun confiscation language is likely headed to the dustbin in conference negotiations. This is good news for gun owners and Second Amendment supporters.
It also shows the power of the people’s voices when they band together. Our government can only hide when we turn a blind eye to its tricks and deceptions. When we stand up for our rights, we start making a difference.
