The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is supposed to stand up for people’s rights. In some cases, it actually used to do that. Nowadays, the ACLU is an activist left-wing organization that supports the Democrat Party and stands up for folks when it’s politically helpful to the Democrats.
Now, recently I wrote about the View host Sunny Hostin and her claim that the Second Amendment is anti-black and racist. The ACLU is also jumping on this bandwagon, claiming gun rights are founded on “anti-blackness.” That’s why this lie needs to be taken on again.
If we don’t call it out strongly and clearly, it will begin to take root in the American people’s minds…but it shouldn’t: because it’s a lie.
First, the Facts
Yes, black Americans have been barred from equal gun rights at many times in our history. Yes, black slaves were obviously not permitted to own firearms by their racist masters. However, we need to remember one thing about our rights and who they come from.
American rights and freedoms don’t come from our government; they come from God. The author of liberty is not Benjamin Franklin: the author of liberty is our Creator. Those who unjustly applied laws in the past were tyrants, and black people who used guns to win freedom were the true Americans in that case.
In fact, gun ownership was key to many slave revolts and forays into freedom. Ever heard of Harriet Tubman? She’s a hero who saved slaved during the Civil War while carrying a gun. You know, one of those things that shoots bullets that the Democrats hate so much.
Legislation throughout our history has gotten rid of the racist restrictions on guns for black Americans and made sure they enjoyed the full rights they already should’ve had from the very beginning. Guns were the great equalizer throughout the process.
Racism is foundational to the Second Amendment and its inclusion in the Bill of Rights.

Black Self Defense is an American Right
Horrible incidents in our past like the Tulsa Massacre and Atlanta Massacre have been rallying cries for our black community to arm themselves. There is no reason that black Americans shouldn’t have the right to arm themselves; although, to point to racist history as an example of why gun rights are actually just white supremacy is deceptive.
Gun rights are for everyone. Illegal guns and black market guns are obviously a huge danger that needs to be cracked down on. Yet, the leftist idea that restricting gun ownership only upsets white people is ridiculous. Many law-abiding black gun owners – especially those living in dangerous inner cities where illegal weapons flow freely – need to have a gun for their own protection.
Democrat-loving organizations like the ACLU who say that guns are evil and racist want to take guns away from law-abiding black Americans. In my books, that’s evil behavior.
To date, black Americans are more likely than any other group to suffer the adverse impacts of gun control laws.

If you think guns are racists I will be happy to buy you a one way ticket to Africa if you promise to stay !!
We have the right to bear arms. The Government can’t take that right away with out rewriting the Constitution.
I just don’t get why every writer refuses to point out the fact that it’s historically been the Democrat Party who has perpetrated all these laws on black Americans…….
Gun control had its roots in keeping guns out of the hands of former slaves. It was a Democrat thing, banning cheap guns which were the only thing former slaves could afford. Democrats have been at the helm of banning gun since them, mostly to keep power from the people. Nothing much has changed but the types of guns involved. ACLU still wears the same credentials. I worked with a police officer who was having difficulty with his civil right being violated, but since he was a police officer, the ACLU wasn’t interested in his civil rights.
