Many liberal Americans have a charming idea of Europe. Winding, romantic little alleys, and views of the Eiffel tower in Paris. Seaside promenades and maybe a small orange grove on Italy’s Amalfi coast. Europe is a beautiful place, absolutely, but it’s also a region that’s full of severe gun control.
Most nations of Europe and the European Union (EU) make it very difficult to legally own a firearm for any reason if you’re not actively serving in the military or police. Nations like the United Kingdom don’t even let most police carry a firearm. The result of this gun control mentality isn’t safety and a wonderful paradise.
It’s exactly what you’d expect: helpless people trapped and victimized whenever a bad guy with a gun decides to go wild. The latest example comes out of the city of Montpellier, France; this is located on the south coast of France a few hours’ drive from the Spanish border.

Meltdown in Montpellier
Many readers may recall in 2015 when armed terrorists stormed the offices of a French satire magazine in Paris called Charlie Hebdo and gunned dozens of people down. They were offended over a cartoon about the Muslim religion. People around the world put little flags on their profiles and said how sad they were. Protesters held up signs saying they supported freedom of speech.
Yet, nothing really changed. The horrific Bataclan terror attack happened less than a year after Hebdo. The bad guys were still the ones with the guns, and they still are today. France has many problems in addition to terrorism and one of its biggest is armed gangs.
These armed gangs are often made up of North African and immigrant individuals who clash over drug territory and other rivalries. They also happen to own a lot of illegal weapons. Recently, a major conflict happened in Montpellier, as two gangs faced off with rifles and handguns, terrifying residents stuck close to the fierce firefight.
What Exactly Happened in Montpellier?
The two gangs tried to take each other down, unloading round after round. Nearby residents managed to film some of the fights. Reports say only one person was seriously injured and police responded fairly quickly. Reports also say the fight was over a drug deal. The mayor of Montpellier was very upset and said that the “unspeakable” violence was unacceptable in his city.
According to French cops in the city, they need major reinforcements if people expect them to fight effectively against the huge “rise in violence.” As the police noted, Montpellier is turning into a “crime-ridden” dangerous city and quickly rising to become one of the most unstable in France.
Lesson To Be Learned
While thousands of French folks in Montpellier and elsewhere protest the government’s new mandatory COVID vaccine policy, the violence in Montpellier is a frightening wake-up call to us all.

Gun control combined with big government tyranny and reckless migrant gangs is a recipe for hell on earth. Don’t let it happen here.
