Pistol Tips with Travis Haley of Haley Strategic has been a free series we have been reposting here at the site for those of you who want to learn more. Pistol shooting for some seems to come naturally, for the rest of us we have to practice often. Anytime you can sit and learn from skilled shooters through a free series wether on YouTube or a DVD you should jump at the opportunity. I have personally found that many shooting instructors will not teach you a single thing without you attending a course. While I understand the issues of a free market system, and the fact people have bills to pay, giving back to the shooting community in this way is something that pays dividends in the long run. This we we managed to capture two separate short clips from Travis Haley on proper body positioning when performing your shooting drills. The first video we want to share with you is entitled: Shooting Alignment.

ALIGNMENT

The second video is just barely over 2:20 and addresses the topic of body positioning and breaking the thought process of fighting from a static position. As pointed out in this video and from similar videos remaining in a static or stationary position during a pistol engagement can get you wounded or worse yet, killed. There are a few schools of thought on the process of “owning your fighting position”, in this video it is addressed quickly and bluntly by a man who has more combat trigger time than I will ever have. To me listening to the people who have earned the experience of combat shooting with blood sweat and tears is a wise thing to do. While I hope to never be in a gunfight, I would hope that listening to someone like Travis Haley and applying some of the techniques he demonstrated the last few weeks would be enough to keep me alive, well those techniques aided by a few well placed rounds in self defense. Take a few minutes and watch these two videos, let us know if you have enjoyed this series.
